Exploiting Earnings Volatility Excel Spreadsheets

Below are the links to the password-protected, encrypted, self-extracting zip and regular (non-Executable) files. The copyrighted spreadsheets are provided exclusively for users who have purchased the book Exploiting Earnings Volatility by Brian Johnson.  The copyrighted spreadsheet files may not be shared with or transferred to other users.

The links below will take you to the download pages for the self-extracting executable Zip or the regular (non-Executable) Zip file.  On the download page, click on the Download link to download the respective zip file. Passwords are required to unlock/unzip the encrypted zip file and to open the Excel spreadsheets. The passwords and spreadsheet instructions are provided in the book.

Three files are included: 1) the Basic spreadsheet, 2) the Integrated spreadsheet, and 3) a sample import file in CSV format. To enhance compatibility, the Basic spreadsheet does not use macros. However, it does use Solver.

The Integrated spreadsheet is in .XLSM format and uses macros extensively. It will probably only be compatible with recent, English language versions of Microsoft Excel run in a Windows environment.

To function properly, you must install the Solver Add-In in your version of Microsoft Excel. You may also need to enable the Solver VBA reference from a blank Excel Spreadsheet.

A reader informed me that the initial release of Office 2016 (updated automatically through Office 360) generates error messages in the Integrated spreadsheet macros. In other words, Office 2016 is not fully backward compatible with previous versions of Office. The reader followed this guide to downgrade to Office 2013 and blocked updates, which restored the functionality of the Integrated spreadsheet macros: http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/downgrade-office-2016-office-2013-block-upgrade/

The EEV book and spreadsheets were released before Office 2016 was available and the spreadsheets were tested with Excel 2010 and 2013, both of which I am still using. If I upgrade to Office 2016, I will test the macros with the latest release of Office 2016 and attempt to make changes to the macros if necessary. The latest files will always be available via this page.

The spreadsheets are provided solely for informational and general educational purposes.  By downloading the spreadsheets, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agreed to all of the terms and conditions outlined on the Disclaimer and Terms page on the Trader Edge site.

You will need to enable macros to access the functions in the Integrated spreadsheet.
